Navigating San Antonio International Airport (SAT)
As far as airports go, the layout of San Antonio International Airport is fairly straightforward. There are two main buildings, each featuring a terminal. The terminals are connected so passengers can take a covered walkway from one to the other through the ticketing and arrivals areas. And yes, it is short enough to walk without too much trouble.

Where to Board Your Charter Bus at San Antonio International Airport
At Ground Transportation areas outside of the lower-level baggage claim areas of both Terminal A and Terminal B, you’ll see dedicated loading zones where your charter bus will meet your group. This is also where passengers catch rideshares and courtesy shuttles. Be aware that an airport expansion project is underway at least through 2028, and construction initiatives may result in lane closures for curbside arrivals and departures at Terminal B.
You will have a pre-arranged pickup time for your group at the curbside pickup zone. However, because vehicles are not allowed to stop and wait for arriving passengers, you should first:
1) Have everyone in your group collect their luggage at baggage claim
2) Gather everyone at the curbside pickup area
3) Call or text your driver by phone to confirm that everyone is ready.
Most San Antonio International Airport charter buses will wait at the Cell Phone Waiting Lot staging area until getting that call before driving into the terminal. This assures a smoother loading experience. For late-night pickups between 8:00 pm and 1:00 am, if there is congestion in the lower baggage claim level, your driver may advise your group to wait curbside in the Upper/Departures Level. Just make sure you are in clear communication with your driver.
Note that larger groups being picked up between 8:00 am and 1:00 am or during peak congestion time, may be advised to use the Upper/Departure level as your pickup zone.
About SAT Charter Bus Permits
Charter buses are required to pre-register their services prior to arriving at SAT to pick up passengers curbside.
